Could Success and Happiness Be Intertwined?

For people who are hunting down success, one important question should be asked: are you happy right now? People who are choosing to be consistently happy are also the people who generally find greater success in life! It isn’t about being lucky all the time or having more opportunities than others may have. It’s about taking your opportunities, working hard to create a successful environment using all of your tools, and allowing yourself to be happy no matter the outcome.

Are you ready to choose happiness… and ultimately choose success? Below please find 3 tips for happiness and success

1. Take Care of Yourself Every Single Day

One of the core components of finding success is to take care of the problems that other people are facing. In order to take care of the problems that others are facing, however, you must also be willing to take time for yourself every day. There are a number of ways that you can take some time out of the day to take care of yourself:

  • take time to exercise every day,
  • give yourself 20 – 30 minutes of solitary time so you can meditate, or
  • develop healthy habits that pull you toward successful outcomes.

Just as someone can be pulled into eating sweets because they taste good and that makes them feel good, someone can also be pulled into healthy habits because they do the same thing. By taking care of yourself better, you’ll be in a better position to do more, to help more, and that’s what brings success!

2. Get Into a Consistent Daily Wake-Up Routine

When the weekend arrives, it can be extremely tempting to just sleep in for awhile because there are no responsibilities that are demanding to be met. Yet people who have a consistent daily wake-up routine that they use every day are actually happier and more successful. Why is that? Because it comes down to what we just discussed – taking care of yourself. When you feel fresh and focused in the morning, you’re ready to attack the day. When you don’t, you’re defending against the day.

3. Take Time To Disengage From the Day

Just as a morning routine that is consistent is important, an evening routine is as well. Being able to process the events of the day and to then disengage from them can help to quiet a racing mind, calm the thoughts, and ultimately bring about a deeper, more refreshing sleep. There are a number of different ways to disengage, but what you decide to do must be comfortable and familiar enough to you that it can help your mind sort through any bothersome thoughts or emotions during that time. It could be a walk, a familiar television show, or a few minutes of mindfulness meditation – if it works for you, then make the choice to do it!

Choosing success and happiness might be something that needs to be done every day, but as with any good habit, once you establish it, the habit will pull you toward it. Begin that process now so that you can experience the happiness and success that you want in life!

5 Ways Productivity Improves With Meditation

meditation work

Organizations are turning to meditation like never before thanks to what science is discovering about this ancient practice. When an employee is encouraged to take time from their working day to meditate, many organizations have discovered that their productivity levels per employee increase in return. There are also numerous benefits that will be directly experienced by the employee. Could you benefit from these productivity boosters?

#1. Meditation reduces individual stress levels.

Stress is something that everyone at work experiences at just some level. It’s also something that happens outside of the professional environment. If employees are focused on stress, then they aren’t focused on work. By encouraging meditation, stress levels can be reduced so that a greater focus on the project at hand can be achieved. As a side effect, employees may also notice less tension, lower blood pressure, and other health improvements.

#2. Meditation helps with concentration.

“How would you describe your multitasking skills?” It’s a common interview question because the demands on the average employee are higher than ever before. The only problem is that 98% of workers need time to switch between two different tasks. That time gap can be as large as 15 minutes for some individuals. Through meditation, the brain can transition more quickly between tasks, be able to shut out distractions, and therefore be more efficient.

#3. Meditation improves emotional intelligence.

Being in touch with personal emotions and the emotions of those around them is important to the professional environment. Meditation helps employees get to know themselves better, which then helps them get to know everyone else around them a little better as well. Compassion naturally increases with meditation because people understand each other a little more. This emotional intelligence allows an employee to be more productive because they have more wisdom.

#4. Meditation encourages higher levels of creativity.

It can be difficult for an employee to be creative if they have a mind full of clutter. Racing thoughts and worries cloud the creative process. Meditation is like a strong wind which blows all of that away. In return, an employee can become more creative because their mind isn’t overloaded with other issues that are being processed. In return, the organization will receive new points of view that they may have never encountered before, allowing it to become more competitive within its industry.

#5. Meditation improves health.

This benefit will definitely impact the overall budget. Employees who meditate regularly take fewer sick days when compared to employees who say they don’t meditate at all. It’s a practice that slows down the aging process, strengthens immune function, and can even reduce inflammation. After meditating, employees feel refreshed and ready to take on a challenge.

Meditation helps to calm the mind and from a professional perspective, a calm mind is a productive mind. By having a meditation room or allowing specific break times to encourage meditation, productivity levels could potentially go through the roof.

Can You Actually Develop Willpower Through Practice?

Develop willpower

Willpower is the foundation of any good, positive choice that is made. Sometimes choices can be hard and willpower might seem like it isn’t around, but that just isn’t true. It just means you may need a little more practice in this skill. That’s right! Willpower is a skill and it can be developed through practice. Then, through that process of development, you may just find that you can achieve anything!

How could practicing willpower daily help improve your life?

Through greater relaxation. Why does stress come about? It often arrives through the form of worry, anxiety, or fear. It might be nice to crash in front of the television for awhile with a pint of triple chocolate fudge ice cream, but that’s not true relaxation. Practice using willpower to actually force yourself to relax! Take a few moments in a quiet room, breathe in deeply with your favorite music, and begin letting the tensions go.

Through better positive self-talk. Self-deprecation when in a public speaking role can help break the ice and get a point across. Self-deprecation in the form of negative self-talk when something doesn’t go the way you expect? That will drain your energy and ambition faster than anything else will! Practice using willpower to tell yourself the positive things you’ve been able to accomplish and you’ll be more likely to stay on the straight and narrow path.

Through proactive decisions. There are always going to be times when the decision to give in will rear its ugly head. When the willpower is strong, not weak, is the time to counteract that issue! Practice using your willpower to proactively make good decisions when you might be in a weaker state down the road so that you can keep going. If you love potato chips, for example, and you’d eat a whole bag and destroy your diet, then use your willpower now not to stock the house with the problematic item.

Through a better knowledge of oneself. One of the common ways people try to practice willpower is through the blocking of problematic thoughts. The problem is that the more a thought is shut out, the more it will keep coming back to haunt you time and time again. Even if it is a negative thought, you can acknowledge its presence without giving that thought validity. You choose your own actions and one of the best is to add meditation to your daily routine. Through meditation, you can begin to control the actions that are associated with bothersome thoughts and keep yourself in a positive mental state more often.

Through tiny, daily successes. Long term goals might seem far off in the distance, but short-term goals are met every day in some way. Instead of focusing on how far away the ultimate achievement is, take a moment at the end of each day to look at the progress you’ve made toward that goal instead. Each step on the straight and narrow path is a goal that has been met and should be celebrated!

With practice, the skill of willpower can help you achieve anything! Start practicing today, even if it is the first time, and you’ll begin to become more resilient to the negative and make consistent, positive choices every day. You can do it!

Can You Afford Not To Meditate?

There are two primary skills that people need in this modern life: the ability to focus and the ability to concentrate. Without these skills, it is difficult to get the tasks done that have to be done every day. It goes beyond the workplace – without focus and concentration, laundry falls behind, dishes don’t get washed, and carpets don’t get vacuumed.

Some might say that they don’t have enough time for meditation because of all the jobs that need to be done. The reality is that you can’t afford not to meditate daily because meditation is one of the most effective ways to develop these two essential skills that are required of people in today’s Twitter age.

How Does Improved Focus and Concentration Help?

Think about what happens during your average work day. You’ve got a number of distractions that are all headed your way like a heat-seeking missile:

  • there’s the co-worker with a full cup of coffee who wants to talk about last night’s TV shows, or
  • there’s the constant ringing and dinging of your social media notifications, and
  • there’s always your boss who comes in with an emergency project that needs to be completed by 5pm, along with all of the other work that is due for the day.

By utilizing your skills of focus and concentration, you can have your mind prioritize the tasks at hand and actually begin to do things simultaneously. It’s like a web browser for the mind that can have multiple tabs up at the same time. You’ve got multiple thought strands running, but you’re focusing on one page while the others await your attention to display the information you need.

How Does Meditation Help This Process?

As you meditate, you’re causing your mind to compartmentalize the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the patterns of thoughts that are always racing through your head. That’s why finding time to meditate every day is so important to success in this modern life! No other practice allows you the opportunity to practice the skill of compartmentalization so that you can make sure the right page on your mental web browser is displayed at the right time, every time.

One of the most difficult things to resist is an urge. We have urges every day that cause us to become distracted. That’s the hardest part about having multiple mental web browsers up and active, because it’s so easy to flip between the pages! When you do that, it feels like you’re getting a lot accomplished and you wear yourself out, but in the end nothing really ever got done, did it? Resisting the urge to constantly flip pages requires discipline and that’s often the missing component that people need.

With Discipline, Anything Is Possible!

The first step on your pathway to greater discipline is to make sure you take time every day to meditate. As you practice this discipline, begin applying it to your skills of focus and concentration so that you can stay at that one open mental web browser page for as long as you need to get the job done. No matter what that job may be, from laundry to the signing of a a new contract, it is through the practice of meditation that you will find the most success.

Make time for meditation today and you may be surprised at how fast your skills develop!

5 Tips To Live An Exceptional Life

living an exceptional life

That brick wall which just hit you is life declaring that you just don’t have the ability to really control your life! It’s a lie, but it’s a lie that is coated in a spoonful of sugar, so it goes down easy and is very believable. Although you can’t always predict good days or bad days, you can predict your reaction to the chaotic nature of life during a bad day and turn even the worst days around into something better.

To do that, you’re going to need some tools in your toolbox. Here are 5 of the best tools you can have at your disposal:

1. Trust Your Gut Instinct

How many times in life have you second-guessed yourself, only to discover that your gut instinct was the right move to make? No one really knows yourself better than you do. You can’t keep secrets from yourself! Go with what your inner voice is telling you to do because chances are that’s going to be the right move to make.

2. Don’t Expect Perfection!

Each person is his or her own worst critic. Even people who say they don’t care about perfection do care about leaving a good first impression. People will fail because humans fail. People will make mistakes in judgment because humans make mistakes in judgment. Guess what? You’re a person. That makes you human. Perfection won’t happen, but a good first impression can almost always be had… but only if you’re willing to allow it to make its presence known.

3. Remember How Blessed You Are

When you’re in the midst of chaos, it really becomes the only thing you can see. The swirling winds of negativity surround you and life suddenly is all about what you don’t have or what you feel you should have. The best way to get rid of that negative spiral is to just take a few moments and make a list of the blessings you do have in life. The old adage that you get what you sow is very true, so the more good you sow, the more good you’ll be able to harvest. Remembering your blessings can help you change the seeds you’re sowing each day.

4. Allow Forgiveness To Happen

It can feel empowering to be angry, but you’ve got to put that anger into something useful or it is an energy that will consume you. It takes a lot of energy to stay angry, even if that anger is righteous and justified. Being able to forgive others isn’t always about letting people get off the hook. Sometimes forgiveness is simply about letting you move on from a problem so that life can continue to proceed.

5. Gratefulness

Even when life is a mess, there’s always a certain level of gratefulness that can be found. It might be just a solitary moment, a favorite treat, or a cool breeze blowing through your hair. Gratefulness opens more doors than it closes and as a tool it helps to discover the extraordinary in what we tend to overlook as ordinary every day.

With these tools available and at the ready, chaos doesn’t stand a chance! Quiet your storm today and reclaim the life you want!

Is It Possible To Find a Happy Place in the Midst of Chaos?

productivity

It’s tough these days to find a place of contentment unless you’re truly seeking it out. Phones ring at all hours of the day. Facebook notifications draw us back toward the computer even when we’ve got other things we’d rather be doing. E-mail notifications at 2am can ring, making it difficult to get back to sleep. In the midst of all this chaos, is it really possible to find a happy place where contentment reigns supreme?

It is possible if you are willing to make four potential changes in your life:

Find time to step away from it all. There’s only so much that your mind can take. It might be a sponge that can absorb a lot of data, but even a sponge can become overflow and leak out liquid! Find time to step back from all the distractions every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes, so you can find some peace from it all. You’d reset your computer when it begins to get errors, right? Take the time to restart your mind once and awhile too.

Find a place that you can breathe in some fresh air. There’s something that causes the air in my office to plug up my nose every day. If I’m in the office for too long, I start getting this creeping headache that sets in, right around the upper part of my sinuses. Add in the tension from a tough day and a full blown migraine isn’t out of the question! By finding fresh air and breathing it in deeply, the extra oxygen can literally recharge your system, much like you’d recharge your iPhone when the battery is low.

Don’t assume responsibility for everything. The reason why so many people begin to feel overwhelmed is because they try to do everything on their own. This on its own creates chaos, but when it becomes combined with all the other chaotic moments of a busy modern life, you can give yourself a hurricane force storm of chaos that is difficult to move through. Reach a hand out, grab a lifeline, and allow others to help you out. Have confidence in them, have faith in yourself, and take on only the things that you know you can handle every day.

Don’t forget to smile! What smiling does is it forces the mind to look at something in a different way. It’s not one of those ridiculous fake smiles that you see plastered on everyone’s stressed-out faces at the office I’m talking about here. No – a genuine smile that reflects the fact that there is a silver lining in even the darkest of clouds that could be drenching you right now, making you trudge through mud puddles!

If you are willing to make these 4 potential changes to your daily routine, then no matter how chaotic your environment may become, there will always be a tranquil place for you to go. Finding contentment in even the busiest of lives really is possible!

How to Use Meditation to Achieve Your Goals

achieve goals with meditation

Today I want to talk about how you can use meditation to achieve your goals. Meditation is an ancient practice to help a person gain inner peace and happiness. You can also direct it to getting whatever you want in life. Here is how you do it:

1. Start with a vision of what success means to you.

For example, if you want to lose 20 pounds, imagine how you will look and feel after the weight loss. You need to have a crystal clear vision of the ideal outcome.

2. Begin to meditate.

Meditation is a process of getting your mind calm and centered. When meditation is practiced correctly, you will notice an increase in your ability to focus and concentrate. As you empty your mind of all thoughts, you will enter a higher state of consciousness. Your subconscious mind is in a heightened state and will be more influenced by your thoughts, images and emotions at this time.

3. After you are done meditating, visualize your goals as achieved.

You are now in a powerful state of mind. Anything you focus on will slowly be attracted to you. This is why it is very important to focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want. With your eyes closed, begin to visualize the successful outcome of your goals in complete detail. If you can’t ‘see’ yourself with the goals completed, then have the feelings you would have when you have achieved it.

4. Finally, write down your goals.

With a pen and paper, write your goals as if it were already achieved. In the above example, you would write, “I am now xxx pounds.” Do this at the end of each meditation. When you write your goals down you will be programming it into your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind will find ways to help you achieve your goals the fastest way possible. Throughout the day, you will have creative ideas, meet people, and find resources to help you achieve your goals. It is truly this amazing.
